1.) What is the author trying to tell us? I think the author, Max Berry, uses the society he created to show his readers how good of a life they have in the present society. The society he created is not anyones "picture perfect" society. The individual ideas like no taxes sound nice. But in the over all sceme of things, the society is no good. People are paying 5000 dollars for a pair of sneakers and companies are hiring people to kill innocent citizens just to make their products more popular. 2.) Why is Hack such a push-over? I think that Hack is a push over because he has no confidence in himself. He needs to gain some self confidence so he can stand up for himself. For example, with the contract that said he had to kill ten people over a pair of shoes. Hack signed the paper before knowing what it meant because he was pressured. Once he signed it and figured out what the contract was about he had other people do the job for him rather then stand up for himself. It can all be avoided by him just saying something for himself. 3.) What is going on between Jennifer Government and John Nike? John Nike and Jennifer Government may not obviously have feelings for eachother, but i think deep down they do. Jennifer may say how annoying John is and etc. but they had a child together which shows me that at one point they were very deeply in love. Feelings like that do not just go away so i think that on the outside Jennifer may not seem like she likes John oh so much, but deep down she really does still love him and she is having a hard time getting over
